Habitat: This dove species is restricted to undergrowth of montane forest in the highlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica and western Panama. This species has been reported in Panama only in the highlands of Chiriqui. Natural History Notes: The Buff-fronted quail-dove is mostly terrestrial and fairly shy, like the other dove species. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 10 inches and 11 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This dove species has a beige forehead and a crown and nape of a bright green coloration. The plumage above is mostly chestnut brown but the back is bright purple. The cheeks and the throat are white and contrasts with a black undulated band. Then, the underparts is mostly gray but more beige on the belly.
