L., Sp. Pl.1085.1753 Epiphyte; rhizome long-creeping with linear-triangular, dark reddish-brown scales tapered to an acicular apex. Leaves simple, deeply pinnatifid, with short trichomes throughout; petioles 1-10 cm long; petiole and midrib usually reddish-brown; blades oblong, tapered to a narrow apex, tapered also to base, usually 30-60 cm long, 4-10 cm wide, the lobes 3-8 mm wide, broadest at base, the basal lobes of mature leaves much reduced, less than half as long as longest lobes on blade.
