Habitat: This puffbird is fairly common in canopy and forest borders.   Distribution: This species has been reported from southern Mexico to Bolivia, northeastern Argentina and southern Brazil.   Natural History Notes: You may find this species perched motionless on a branch for a long period of time. It will then fly and capture insects, which consists of its diet. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species.   Characteristics: This species has a total length of 10 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The bill is black, as well as the plumage on the above, except for the white forehead and the white collar. The part below is mostly white and we can distinguish a large black band on the chest and black stripes on the flanks.
