Can also darken and pale to camoflage. Distinctive features include a dark spot on the upper gill cover and foredorsal fin, large eyes and thick lips. Male: Uniform dark red, with a paler underside and fins. Female: Surface colours spotted and mottled. Length 1.5 to 2.25 in.
