Habitat: Marine. Commonly found on shallow reefs. Juveniles reside in seagrass beds. Depth range 0 - 30 m. Natural History Notes: Omnivores. Diurnal. Feed principally on tentacles of polychaetes tubworms, coral polyps or zoantharians (colonial sea anemones). Undergo a remarkable change of color at night (develops dusky bands). Characteristics: Adults : white with dorsal, anal and ventral fins, caudal peduncle, basal part of the caudal fin and base of the pectoral fins bright yellow. Small angular black mark on the trailing tip of the soft dorsal fin. Scale rows below the lateral line roughly parallel troughout, the series running obliquely up and back. Juveniles : black spot on the rear dorsal fin, anal fin and base tail which join to form a rear body bar.
