Habitat: Marine. Appears to be primarily a reef species, found in clear waters. Depth range 3 - 80 m. Natural History Notes: Feeds on tunicates, alcyonarians, sponges and shrimps. Characteristics: Spines projecting forward in front of the eyes. Olivaceous with dark polygonal or hexagonal rings submarginally in plates of the body. Can darken, pale and change colours. Juveniles : small round black spots on a yellow background.
