Habitat: Lowlands, tropical evergreen and dry semideciduous forests, usually below 1000 m. Distribution: Honduras to Brazil and Uruguay, also Trinidad. Natural History Notes: Guild 2: Background Cluttered Space/Aerial Insectivores (Kalko, et al., 1996). Roosts in caves, hollow trees and buildings. Breeding not well synchronized, but most births occur in the rainy seasons. Characteristics: Very small. Forearm 32-38mm, Mb about 5 gms. Dorsal pelage dark brown, underparts slightly lighter brown. Hair short, somewhat wooly, face with a slight pink hue, ears pointed. Tail extends to tip of interfemoral membrane, that membrane basically hairless beyond level of knee. Two upper premolars, innermost almost invisible, difficult to see in live bats (Reid, 1997).
