Distribution: This species has been reported from the Western Atlantic Ocean. Natural History Notes: This species is similar to another spider crab species called Mithrax forceps. Characteristics: This Mithrax species has a carapace length of 3.6 cm. It has 4 lateral spines on the edges of the carapace. The carapace has a yellowish background with scattered red stripes. The claws are red but the tips are paler. All the species of the genus Mithrax share certain characteristics such as: spoon-shaped claw tips, legs armed with spines and the carapace with two rostral horns and 3-4 lobes on the front margin.
