Habitat: Present in sandy bottoms. Distribution: This species has been reported from the Caribbean to Brazil. Depth: 0-100 m Characteristics: Macrocallista maculata has a shell with an oval shape with a highly glossy surface. Sculpture of very fine growth lines under glossy layer. The lunule is small. The color pattern consists of a white background with irregular brown marks, sometimes arranged in radial bands. The interior is white.
