Habitat: This Warbler species will favor forest borders and woodland habitats. They are moore abundant in foothills and lwe highlands in western Panama. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern North America and migrate south from Guatemala to Colombia and northern Venezuela. Natural History Notes: Like the other warblers, the Golden-winged Warbler is insectivorous and you will find it foraging at different tree levels, in groups with other insectivorous bird species. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a latitudinal migratory species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 11.4 cm and 12.7 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The male has a gray plumage on the above with a yellow forecrown and a large yellow patch on the base of the wings. The sides of the head and the underparts are white, but we can distinguish a black patch that passes through the eye with a triangle shape, and going down toward the throat. The female looks similar except for the patch below the eye and the throat, that are both pale gray colored.
