Habitat: This Flycatcher species can be commonly found in humid forest borders and canopy, in the lowlands and lower foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica to northern Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Yellow-margined Flycatcher likes to forage at middle and upper tree levels by moving from branch branch with the tail cocked up, looking for insects. You may also find it perched vertically on a branch. Its call consists of a series of harsh and buzzy notes like "zhweek zhweek, zhweek" given at a certain interval. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 13.3 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a large, flat black bill with the lower mandible pale gray, a dark iris and black legs. The plumage above is mostly olive with a gray crown and a whitish supraloral patch and a white fine ring around the eye. The wings are black with two yellow wing-bars. We can also distinguish a pale speculum at the base of the outer primaries. Then, the throat is whitish, becoming olive on the breast and the flanks, and pale yellow on the belly.
