Habitat: This Wren species can be found in humid forests and in second-growth woodland habitats in the lowlands on the Caribbean side of western Panama. Distribution: This species has been reported from Nicaragua to central Panama. Natural History Notes: The Stripe-breasted Wren is usually found in pairs or in small groups, foraging at low and middle tree levels. It favors vines and lianas. Its call is composed of a single whistled note repeated several times. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 12 cm measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a brown plumage above with a more olive coloration on the head and a white stripe above the eye. We can also distinguish some black stripes on the wings and the tail. Then, the sides of the head and most of the underparts are white colored in the background, but with several stripes of black. The stripes on the sides of the body and on the flanks are brown.
