Habitat: This Parrot species can be found in forest borders and clearings with scattered trees in the lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from eastern Mexico to western Panama. Natural History Notes: The White-crowned Parrto is usually found in small groups and has a very noisy call like "krreeck, krreeck, krreeck". It feeds on taking various seeds, nuts and fruits, and can be pest in crops of corn or sorghum, and commercial fruit plantations. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 24.1 cm and 25.3 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has yellowish bill with a horn shape, a brown iris and a red coloration on the bare skin around the eye. This parrot is characterized by the white forecrown and the white patch on the throat. The rest of the head, the neck and the chest are all blue-green. Then, the upperparts are mostly green, with the edges of the wing-coverts beige. The breast and the belly are dark green colored and the base of the under tail-coverts is red. The female has an overall duller plumage.
