Habitat: This species can be found in humid forests in lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Honduras to northern Bolivia and southeastern Brazil. Natural History Notes: This nunbird will be usually in small groups, perched on a branch with other bird species. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species is 11 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a long, slim and decurved red bill. The plumage is mostly shinning dark, but the head and the neck are blacker and the forehead is white. The race (grandior) present in Bocas del Toro has in addition a white chin.
