Habitat: The Semiplumbeous hawk favors humid forests. second-growth woodland, especially in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Honduras to northwestern Ecuador. Natural History Notes: This species is usually found perched on a branch within the canopy and rarely leaves the the forest. It seems to never soar. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 38 cm and 41 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This hawk species has the cere and legs with a gradient coloration from roange to red-orange. The part above is dark gray and the part below is white. We may also distinguish some light gray stripes on the chest, although it is more current in immature birds. The tail is black with one large white band. The wings are broad and rounded shaped and when the bird flies, we can see that the uderside of the wing is white.
