Habitat: Mangroves Distribution: Caribbean, Florida, Gulf of Mexico. Characteristics: Massive-amorphous to globular. Regularly conules (spikes on the surface 1 mm high allow to distinguish from the other black "loaf" sponge (Spongia sp). Membrane-bearing uscules (1-5 mm wide) scattered or on mound-like elevations.
