Habitat: This Yellowthroat species will favor tall grassy habitats and low bushes near water sources in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Honduras to Caribbean western Panama; western Colombia and western Ecuador. In Panama, this species is only found in the Bocas del Toro lowlands. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 12.3 cm and 13 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The male has an olive plumage on the above, which contrasts with the black mask that surround the eyes and extend on the forecrown and toward te sides of the head. The part below is bright yellow, but with some olive coloration on the sides of the body as well as on the flanks. The female also has an olive plumage above and yellow below, but we can see that the female has more olive patches along the flanks than the male.
