Habitat: This Euphonia species can be found in canopy borders of humid forests, in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Mexico to norther Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil. Natural History Notes: The White-vented euphonia will be usually found within groups of other bird species. It likes to forage high in trees and its diet consists of fruits. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 10 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The male has a steel blue coloration on the above and a small yellow patch on the forehead. The throat and the upper chest are also steel blue and the underparts are mostly yellow. However, the male is characterized by the white plumage on the lower part of the belly and well as on the under tail-coverts. The female looks different, with an olive coloration on the above and a gray-white throat. Also, we can see a large yellow band on the breast, the sides of the body and the flanks. Finally, half part of the belly and the under tail-coverts are white.
