Habitat: This Euphonia bird will favor dry or less dry shrubby areasm savannas and clearings habitats. This bird is found in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Nicaragua to eastern Panama. Natural History Notes: You will find this species foraging in groups of other Yellow-crowned euphonia. They are rarely silent and the call consists of double or triple-noted high-pitched "beem-beem". Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 10 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The male is beautiful, with its entire yellow crownand the underparts bright yellow. The upperparts is rich blue, whereas the throat and the chest show a more "steel" blue coloration. The female looks fairly different, with a yellowish olive coloration on the above and a pale yellow coloration on the below part.
