Habitat: This species favors light woodland, forest borders and shrubby clearings habitats. Distribution: This species can be found primarily in the West Indies. In America, we can find it in Florida and in the islands in the southern Caribbean. Its range extends toward Venezuela, Colombia and northern Brazil. Characteristics: The total length of this species is 12 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The first characteristic we can notice is the yellow coloration on the lower mandible and the dark gray coloration on the upper mandible. The part above is gray-brown with a large black mask around the eyes. The part below is cream colored with a gradient in intensity. Finally, we can see that the tail feathers are tipped white.
