Habitat: This Attila species is fairly common in forests, second-growth woodland and forest borders, in the lowlands and foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from western and southern Mexico to norther Bolivia and southeastern Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Bright-rumped Attila is an active and fairly agressive bird that is usually found alone at middle tree levels. It feeds on insects, spiders, frogs and lizards taken from vegetation or the ground. This bird can even pursue its prey on foot. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 20 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a heavy hooked pinkish bill and the iris red. The plumage may be variable. However, it consists usually of an olive brown plumage above with a yellow rump (can be beige or tawny). The wings and the tail are brownish with their edges beige colored. The part below is olive yellow, becoming whitish on the lower belly. The throat and the breast show gray stripes.
