Adult: Species description based on Duellman (2001). A small treefrog (males to 34 mm, females to 37 mm). Dorsal: The dorsal surface is brown with some dark spots. A distinct creamy yellow line extends from the snout, above the eye, and along the side of the dorsum to the groin. The lateral surface below the line is also dark brown. Some dark spots may be present on the upper surfaces of the thighs. The skin is smooth. Ventral: The ventral surface is whitish, mottled with brown. Concealed surfaces: The groin and front and rear surfaces of the thighs are yellowish. Eye: The eye is copper-colored. Extremities: The webbing of the hands and feet are yellow, as are the undersides of the limbs. Egg: Eggs are laid in shallow ponds (Duellman 2001). Tadpole: The tadpole is oval shaped with a short tail (Duellman 2001). The body is brown, and the tail is lighter brown (Duellman 2001). When viewed from above, the tail appears darker; this dark coloration extends a little onto the sides of the tail musculature as a lateral stripe (Duellman 2001). Some darker pigmentation is present all over (Duellman 2001). Metamorph juvenile: Juveniles are bright green with brown arms and legs and with a white stripe along the sides (Duellman 2001). The ventral surface is white with black specks (Duellman 2001). Habitat: Montane forest between 1500 and 2040 m elevation.
