Habitat: MArine. Reefs, grass beds and other open areas. Large shoals can often be seen lying in the shade of bottom formations during daylight hours. Spread out over the flats to feed at night. Depth range - 30 m. Natural History Notes: Feeds on small crustaceans, mollusks, other benthic invertebrates, plankton, and algae. Characteristics: Silvery white body. Large dark blotch at the base of caudal fin. Yellow to bronze midlateral stripe extending on the length of the body, from behind the opercle to the base of the caudal fin. Secon narrower yellow stripe on back above lateral line. Pale fins.
