Habitat: This Flycatcher species will be seen foraging in second-growth woodland and forests in the lowlands and lower foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Mexico to northern Bolivia and central Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Ruddy-tailed Flycatcher will be found perched on a branch at middle tree levels, but often hidden in the foliage. Its call consists of a thin "pseoo-see" and a "seeoo-bzeew". This bird is pretty solitary and feeds on insects, especially leafhoppers. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 8.8 cm and 9.3 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This small bird has a short, broad black bill, a black iris and yellow legs. The plumage on the head and the back is olive-gray. Then, the rump and the tail are both cinnamon-rufous red. The underparts and most of the wings are ochre colored.
