Habitat: This Flycatcher species can be found in canopy and forest borders and second-growth woodland, in lower foothills. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern North America and migrate south to southern Florida and from Texas to Colombia ad northern Venezuela. Natural History Notes: The Great crested Flycatcher is usually found alone. In Panama, it mostly feeds on small insects and you might hear its call, which consists of a throaty rolling like "prrrrreet". Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a latitudinal migratory species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 8 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a long slim bill and a black iris. Its plumage is plain olive above, with a browner head and an olive crest. The wings have whitish wing-bars that are hard to distinguish and the primaries are edged rufous red. Then, the tail also has the edge rufous colored. The throat and the chest are gray and the underparts are pale yellow.
