Habitat: This Tyrannulet species will favor clearings and overgrown pastures, as well as woodland borders in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from eastern Nicaragua to northern Bolivia, eastern Paraguay and southeastern Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Yellow Tyrannulet is an active bird that is usually found in pairs or in small groups. It prefers to forage within 3 meters of the ground, searching for insects, spiders and berries. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 10.2 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This small bird has an overall slim shape and a long tail. The plumage above is yellowish olive with two yellow bars on the wings and a yellow stripe above the eye. The forehead and the entire underparts are yellow.
