Habitat: This Amazon species can be found in gallery woodland and savannas, in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from western Panama to northern Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil. Natural History Notes: The Yellow-crowned Amazon is usually found in pairs or small flocks up to 30 birds, but larger groups may gather. Its diet includes fruits, nuts, and seeds and berries. This species is among the best talker parrots of Panama and this is why it is considered to be a good value as a cagebird. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 30.5 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a pale flesh bill with the tip dark gray, and a red iris. The plumage is mostly green, except for the area from the forehead to the mid-crown that is yellow colored and also the bare skin area around the eye that is dull gray colored. Then, the bird shows some red colored parts :there is a red band along the wings, a red speculum on the secondaries and a red patch at the base of the tail.
