Habitat: Marine, reef-associated, preference for clean waters. Natural History Notes: Drift alone, in small groups or dense schools near clear reefs, often in secluded areas. Youngs, which are often found in seagrass beds, feed primarily on zooplankton within a few feets of the bottom. Adults feed on a wide varity of benthic invertebrates, notably crustaceans and sea urchins. Depth: 5 - 25m Characteristics: Silvery gray with dark stripes on the upper half of the body. Region between the uppermost stripe and dorsal fin yellow. Light yellow area dorsally on caudal pduncle.
