Bocas Species Database Habitat: Present in moderately shallow water Distribution: Found living along the Santa Maria coast line (Caribbean coast of Columbia) in moderately exposed reef systems on fringing reefs with a steep slope, extending to depths of 20m+ (J.M. Diaz, L.A. Escolar and L.E. Velásquez 1990). Dredged (found dead) in, Laguna de Chiriqui, Gulfo de los Moskitos and along the other coast of the Bocas del Toro area (Smith et al. 2005). Characteristics: Euvola ziczac measures between 2 and 4 inches long. The upper valve of this species is flat, whereas the lower valve is deep and cup-shaped. We can distinguish a central concavity. The lower valve is brown with greenish red spots. The upper valve shows bright black lines, organized in zigzags. |
