Habitat: This bivalve likes to hide under rocks, in shallow water. Distribution: This species has been reported from South Florida to the West Indies and Brazil. Characteristics: Caribachlamys ornata has a length of 1 inch. It is composed of 20 strong ribs, covered with short spines, especially toward the margins. The wings have unequal sizes. The color pattern consists of a white background with red and purple spots. Some of the ribs are not spotted so they contrast as bright white lines.
