Habitat: The Hooded Warbler is a rare visitant in Panama, but still can be found in lower growth of humid forest and second-growth woodland habitats in the lowlands of western Panama. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern United States and migrates south from eastern Mexico to Nicaragua, with a small number going to Costa Rica and Canada. Natural History Notes: You may find the the Hooded Warbler foraging activaly in the forest using arerial sallies techniques in order to catch insects. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 13.7 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The male can be easily recognized by a black hood that surrounds the bright yellow face and forehead. Then, the plumage is mosly olive brown on the above and yellow on the part below. Also, the part below the outer tail feathers is white. The male looks similar but lacks the black hood.
