Habitat: This Tanager species will favor thickets along forested streams or forest borders and woodland in the humid lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica to northwestern Ecuador. Natural History Notes: The Dusky-faced Tanager is usually found in small groups from 4 to 12 birds. You may have a hard time to see it because it likes to hide in the foliage. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 6.75 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a pale yellow iris and an olive yellow crown on top of the head. The upperparts are gray with a characteristic black-gray mask that extends from the sides of the head, passes through the eyes and onto to the forehead and the throat. Then, the underparts are olive yellow.
