Habitat: This species will favor dense low vegetation in shrubby clearings and woodland borders. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in northern and western North America and will migrate south from southern United States to Honduras and sometimes to Costa Rica and Panama. Natural History Notes: This sparrow species usually forages on the ground in dense vegetation, and eats insects and seeds. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 5.5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a brown plumage on the above with black stripes. The crown is brownish-gray with a beige stripe passing through the middle of the crown. There is also a white ring around the eye and the sides of the head are gray. The part below is whitish with a gradient of beige on the chest and we can see dark gray strikes on the breast and the sides of the body.
