Habitat: This chat species favors dense undergrowth of bushy areas and woodland border, where it will be well hidden. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in United States and Mexico, and migrate south from southern United States to Caribbean western Panama. Natural History Notes: The song of the Yellow-breasted Chat consists of a mixture of cackles, clucks, whistles and hoots. The call is harsh series of "chak". Also, unlike most warblers, this species has been known to mimic the calls of other birds. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 16.5 cm and 17.4 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a small heavy black bill and short black legs. The plumage on the above is mostly olive green, but with a white stripe above the eyes. The throat and the breast are yellow and the belly is white.
