Habitat: This Tanager species is fairly common in lower growth of humid forests and forest border habitats, in foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from Nicaragua to extreme northwestern Colombia and Bolivia. Natural History Notes: The Olive Tanager will be usually found in large groups of up to dozens of birds. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 6.75 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a heavy, slightly hooked black bill and a red iris. The plumage is generally olive green, with a yellower coloration on the throat and on the part below.
