Habitat: Occurs locally on both slopes from sea level to 800m in association with rain forest habitats. Typically it is encountered as solitary individuals along forest adges, trails, streams, and in shaded light gaps between 8 and 12:30 hrs. Range: Guatemala to Panama. Distribution: Bastimentos Island Characteristics: Sexes dimorphic. Male: Fw upperside black with a faint purple iridiscent cast, and a yellow-orange band that runs milas. HW upperside black with broad metallic blue on distal third of wing, underside entirely black finger. Female: FW upperside dark brown to black with a cospicuous yelllow-orange band that runs from costa to tornus; HW upperside dark brown to black with distinct white fringe (19-22.5mm)
