Distribution: Caribbean, Carolinas, Florida and Bermuda. Characteristics: Shape: massive fistulose cushion, 20cmx10cm Color: external very light purple/pink, internal tan at base but same as external throughout most of sponge. Consistency: compressible and soft Surface: ectosome with smooth surfact, slightly textured/rough Apertures: simple raised oscules with thin membrane at opening, 0.5-1.0cm diameter. Fistules 1.0-2.5 cm length, 0.25cm diameter, occasionally branching. Skeleton: spicules consiste of oxeas in one size class (130umx7um). Reticulate skeleton of oxeas. Ectosomal reticulate skeleton of single oxeas. Choanosomal skeleton has few primary fibers consisting of multiple oxeas. Spongin visible at junctions between tips of oxeas. Others: no noticeable odor, fistules very flimsy.
