Habitat: This Antvireo species can be found in lower growth of humid forest habitats in the lowlands and lower foothills. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Costa Rica to western Ecuador. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 4.25 inches and 4.5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a heavy black bill and the iris pale gray. The male has a dark olive plumage with a black crown and white spots. We can also distinguish two white wing-bars. The part below is pale gray and th breast shows gray fine stripes. The female has a brown plumage on the above with an orange crown and black spots. There are also two fine white wing-bars and we can distinguish fine black stripes on the throat and the breast.
