Habitat: This warbler species will favor lower growth of humid montane forests and woodland. They are present only in foothills and highlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica to northern Venezuela and northern Bolivia. Natural History Notes: The Three-striped warbler is usually surrounded by other bird species, hidden in the foliage. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a tota length of 5 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). The race present in the western part of Panama (melanotis) is characterized by a beige crown stripe present on top of the head, which is enclosed by two large black stripes. The feathers covering the ear are black. Otherwise, the part above is olive green and the part below is pale yellow. The throat is whitish and the chest is olive colored.
