Habitat: Often found under rocks, intertidally or in shallow water. Characteristics: Maximum reported size: 13 mm. The shell is mostly dark orange-brown, overlaid with white spots concentrated on the body whorl in adults. Below the suture, larger spots alternate with patches of chocolate brown in spiral bands. The operculum is brown and triangular. The longest side is slightly sinuous and the interior is crossed by a narrow dark-brown ridge at its widest point. Adult shells are always decollated, but the 2-whorled protoconch can be seen on immature individuals. The spire is straight-sided and well elevated, and the adult whorls are smooth and glossy but for axial growth lines. The soft parts of the animal are yellowish white with swirls and spots of dark brown. On the siphon, this coloration is interrupted by bands of cream and brown. The tentacles are banded with brown and white.
