Habitat: This Vireo species favors dense thickets and low trees in shrubby clearings and woodland borders. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern United States and northeastern Mexico and migrate south from southern United States to Honduras, with some birds migrating to Costa Rica and Panama. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 11.4 cm and 12.7 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird is characterized by the white iris (as referred in the common name). The plumage is mostly olive above, with a yellow ring around the eye and a yellow supraloral stripe. The wings are dark gray with in addition two white wing-bars. The part below is whitish, with some yellow tones on the sides of the body and along the flanks.
