Habitat: This Owl will favor habitsts in semi-open country in lowlands. Distribution: This species has a large range, beeing usually reported from cosmopolitan areas in temperate and tropical regions. Natural History Notes: The Common Barn-Owl is a nocturnal bird but can sometimes be active early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Its likes to perch on fence posts or on the ground. They favor residential areas in order to establish their nest. Its diet consists of various rodents. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 35.5 cm and 40.6 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a brown iris and a characteristic heard shape beige or white on the facial area. This bird has two phases. The Light phase consists of a mix of gray-gold plumage above with some black and white spots and a white plumage below with a few black dots. Then, the Tawny phase consists of a darker gray coloration above and a beige plumage below with some black dots.
