Habitat: This Thrush species favors montane forests. forest borders and small clearings in the highlands of western Panama. Distribution: This species has been reported from southern Mexico to western Panama. Natural History Notes: The Mountain Thrush is usually found alone on in small groups and prefers to stay up in trees. Compared to other Thrush species, this bird sings little. Its diet consists of small fruits, insects and spiders. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 25 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a black bill. The plumage above is dark dull olive and the part below is dark dull brown gray. We can distinguish that the throat has several gray stripes. The juvenile looks like the adult, but has orange-beige stripes on the head and the upperparts, and also dark spotting on the underparts.
