Habitat: This Tanager species will favor canopy and humid forest border habitats, in foothill.s Distribution: This species has been reported from Costa Rica to northwestern Ecuador. Natural History Notes: The Emerald Tanager prefers to forage in groups at high tree levels. It feeds on fruits and insects. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: This species has a total length of 5.25 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird is characterized by a golden emerald green plumage. The male has a yellow nape and the back has black stripes and we can distinguish a black spot in front of the eye, as well as on the ear-coverts. Then, the lower belly is colored yellow.
