Habitat: This Shearwater species is pelagic and will be found throughout the oceans of the world, and will come on islands only to nest. Distribution: This species breeds in the Bermuda, the West Indies and on the islands off the Caribbean coast of Panama and Venezuela. Its also breeds on the Galapagos Islands and on other islands in the tropical Pacific and Indian Oceans. In Panama, this species is reported from both the Pacific and the Caribbean slopes. Natural History Notes: The Audubon's Shearwater feeds on small fish. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 28 cm and 30 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a black bill and the legs pinkish. The plumage is dark brown on the above and is well demarcated on the sides of the head from the white underparts. On the sides of the breast and the under tail-coverts, we can distinguish a brown patch. The part under the wings is mostly white but show some brown coloration too.
