Habitat: This Warbler species will favor lower growth of forest and second-growth woodland. Distribution: This species is migratory. It breeds in eastern United States and migrate south from Mexico to Panama and in the West Indies. Natural History Notes: This species can be hard to observe since it likes to hide in the dense vegetation near the ground. Worm-eating Warblers mostly feed on insects, usually searching in dead leaves or bark on trees and shrubs. A funny fact is that despite its common name, this bird rarely, if ever eats earthworms. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). Characteristics: This species has a total length of 13.3 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a slim short black bill. The head has a pale beige coloration with a characteristic large black stripe on either side of the head and a fine black stripe that passes through the eyes. Otherwise, the plumage is mostly brown on the above and beige below.
