Habitat: This hummingbird can be found in forests, forest borders and small clearings. Distribution: Species reported from Southern Mexico to western Panama. Natural History Notes: Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC) Characteristics: This species has a total length of 8.89 cm (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). Its beak is small (1.90 cm) and straight. The male has a green coloration. The distinguishing characteristic of this animal is the wings that show a prominent patch of “cinnamon-rufous” on secondaries (line of wing feathers closest to the body) and at the base of inner primaries (line of wing feathers furthest to the body). The tail is white but with the tip black. The female is similar to the male but has underparts of a grayish coloration and with green spots on the side. The female also shows the “cinnamon-rufous” patch but smaller than that of the male. Also, the feathers on the outer part of the tail are not black.
