Habitat: The Fasciated antshrike can be found in borders of humid forests and in second-growth woodland in the lowlands. Distribution: This species has been reported from southeastern Honduras to northern Bolivia and Amazonian Brazil. Natural History Notes: This bird is usually shy and will be hidden in the foliage. Conservation status according to IUCN 2008 Red list: Least Concern (LC). It is a resident species. Characteristics: The total length of this species varies between 6.5 inches and 6.75 inches (measured from tip of bill to end of tail). This bird has a heavy bill with a hook shape and the iris red. The male has a black plumage with fine white bands on the body, except on the crown on top of the head. The female has a black plumage on the above with beige fine bands and a chestnut crown. The part below is beige with black stripes.
