Adult: Species description based on Savage (2002). A very small frog (males to 19.5 mm, females to 25 mm). Dorsal: The dorsal surface is green, without any patterning,except for the head, which is reddish. Ventral: The ventral surface is pale green or yellow and rather transparent. Eye: The eye is reddish-orange.
Diagnostic description: The legs lacking webbing. Ll finger is longer than l, lll and lV and fingers show clearly expanded discs. The heel is smooth or with a few small tubers, similar to other scattered tubercles on the lower limb size.
The groin and the anterior surface of the thigh lack of contrasting light and dark spots or some other design. The discs are round and covered bearings. The upper lid is smooth. The lower limbs are not red in live specimens. The dorsal surface is green. The head is orange-red or red-orange spots in life color.
Adult males lack nuptial pads, but have vocal slits. The maximum standard length of males is 18 mm. and females is 25 mm.
Habitat: They live in subtropical wet forest, and were found in bromeliads, used as shelter during the day.
Reproduction: Encapsulated produce eggs which are laid in terrestrial conditions, with direct development (no tadpoles) (Savage 2002).
Behavior: It is night.
Distribution in Costa Rica: In the midlands the Atlantic side of the Central Volcanic Cordillera, near La Hondura, 1,200 m. Lift (Savage 2002).
Distribution outside Costa Rica: It is found from Costa Rica to Colombia.
