Adult: Species description based on Savage (2002). A medium-sized salamander with a small, bullet shaped head (131-155 mm total length). Dorsal: The dorsal surface is dark brown. The head is generally lighter than the rest of the body. Number_of_costal_grooves: This species has 20 costal grooves. Eye: The eyes are tiny. Extremities: The limbs are very short, and the hands and feet are very small.
Habitat: Lowland and premontane forest to 850 m. Ecology: Specimens have been collected from fallen logs (Savage 2002). Type locality: Zent, Costa Rica
